Where WorkTool stands
What’s done, what’s being tested and what comes next. There are no dates here until they’re decided.
Completed
3In the current internal build.
Core workspace0.1.0
Folders, websites, desktop apps, tabs, multi-view, notes, command palette and the WorkTool trash.
Apps close fully0.2.0
Closing a tab ends the app, including tray apps and their helper processes.
Get new apps0.2.0
Install and uninstall through winget and Scoop, set up automatically.
Testing
1Happening now.
Alpha testing on Windows 11
Running the app on real workflows and fixing what comes up. Automated end-to-end tests run against the real app.
Planned
2Decided, without dates yet.
First public release
A downloadable installer on this site, with its checksum and release notes. No date yet.
Publishing the source code
WorkTool is meant to become open source. A public repository and a license will be published; neither exists yet.
Known gaps
4Found in testing. Not promises.
Windows 10
WorkTool is built for Windows 10 too, but hasn't been tested on it.
Dragging files out to File Explorer
Dropping files in works; dragging them out doesn't yet. Copy and paste works both ways.
Snap layouts menu
The custom title bar doesn't show Windows 11's snap layouts menu on the maximize button.
Real Google and Microsoft sign-ins
The popup mechanism they use is tested; real sign-ins with accounts haven't been.
