Open source: planned
WorkTool is being developed with the intention of making its source code publicly available. It isn’t open source yet: there’s no public repository and no license today.

A tool that holds your work should be inspectable
WorkTool takes other apps’ windows into its own, sees your folders and stores your website sign-ins. Software with that much reach earns trust more easily when anyone can read how it works.
- Transparency
- How embedding, file operations and app installs work should be checkable, not taken on trust.
- Development in the open
- The changelog, roadmap and blog already document each build and the decisions behind it.
- Community
- Once the repository is public, bug reports and fixes from other Windows users can shape WorkTool.
- A clear license
- A license will be chosen and published with the repository. This site will name it here.
Built on open source
WorkTool already stands on open-source projects. Their licenses are listed on the license page.
| Project | Used for | License |
|---|---|---|
| Tauri 2 | App framework (Rust) | MIT or Apache-2.0 |
| windows-rs | Windows APIs from Rust | MIT or Apache-2.0 |
| webview2-com | Microsoft Edge WebView2 interfaces | MIT |
| React | Interface | MIT |
| Zustand | Interface state | MIT |
| Fluent UI System Icons | Icons | MIT |

When the repository goes public
This page will link the repository, name the license, and explain how to report bugs and contribute. Until then, the best way to follow along is the development journal.
